The Colony Fire Department Citizens Fire Academy Program

The Colony Fire Department has developed the Citizens Fire Academy Program to acquaint citizens with both Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS). The objectives of The Citizens Fire Academy are to increase public awareness of the operations of the Colony Fire Department and creating a safer environment at home and in the workplace. The academy class participants will accomplish these objectives through education, demonstrations and participation. Participants must be 18 years of age (21 years of age to drive apparatus). Participants will be allowed to ride with fire and EMS personnel during a normal tour of duty. They will observe, experience, and learn fire and EMS first hand. TCFD will provide academy participants with the basic training and equipment necessary for the program.

Participation will be limited to (15) fifteen citizens. Applications are available at Central Fire Station, 4900 Blair Oaks Drive or by clicking on the link below. For more information, please contact Deputy Chief McMurphy at (972) 624-2269. Applications will be accepted until April 1, 2010, with the first class starting Monday, April 5, 2010.  Classes will meet every Monday from 7:00-9:30 pm at the Community Center.
